So we bought the Gunner because we pulled a dog from the county shelter that was in a very bad housefire. The owner did not make it out alive and the dogs escaped through an air vent. She is an American Bulldog and no crate could hold her. She busted out of any crate with ease. Her back is covered in burn marks and she had an injured back leg. The Gunner keeps her safe and the Orthopedic bed keeps her comfortable. In the beginning we had to make her go back into the crate, but now, she loves the crate and loves to just be in it and lounge. A friend of ours borrowed us her Gunner until we could get ours and literally within a week the box arrived. We kept the box because my shepherd loves it. He literally has his dog bed in the box and lounges in there.
Our dog has suffered from separation anxiety since we rescued her. She has destroyed 2 wire crates and 1 airline crate. It became unsafe for her in these options. We finally decided to invest in the kennel and chew kit for her safety. We are comforted that she is safe and know she feels more secure in the gunner kennel when we leave the home. Honestly a game changer, wish we invested sooner.
The chew kit works great. However, it’s 5 pieces of painted metal and two bags of screws. When you look at the price it’s hard to justify. I realized that with the kennel and all of its attachments I had already spent so much, I might as well do my best to protect it.

You will need a soft measuring tape, your dog, and 2 minutes to find your perfect fit.
Tip: If you don't have a soft measuring tape, use a piece of string or a leash then compare.
Measure from base of tail to end of nose, keeping the tape along the spine.

GUNNER is the original 5 Star Crash Tested kennel, per the Center For Pet Safety. We created this crate specifically for transportation and that factors into our fit recommendations. In the best interest of your dog, we advise a snug fit for safe travel. If choosing the GUNNER crate for home kenneling, simply slide the toggle above to the right to see the best size.
When primarily used for travel, we always recommend a tight fit in the GUNNER kennel. This protects the dog in the case of an accident: the less wasted interior space the better. Think about it like this – if you’re hitting the brakes too hard, or get into a wreck, you’d rather that your dog have less room to move around inside the kennel. Many customers have also found that their dog feels more secure when traveling in a tighter area too.

Check out the below visual. When the door is closed, the proper fit for safe travel could mean that your dog:
• Is curled
• Paws are tucked
• Rump/tail is resting against the back
