7,000 Miles of Ducks | #GunnerDogs

A yellow Labrador Retriever wearing a GUNNER Waterfowl Vest looks up at a man standing beside her, holding a shotgun and ducks.

Story by Zach Rutledge

Every fall, my Labrador Retriever Quinn and I point the nose of my F150 toward the first cold front and start chasing ducks. We run hard from the opener on, crossing 7 to 10 states and stacking close to 7,000 miles before winter lets up. It's long days, black coffee at gas stations before daylight, frozen fingers at the boat ramp, and mud packed into every floorboard. We grind through mountain passes in snow, washboard dirt roads in the dark, and highways that never seem to end.

A yellow Labrador Retriever jumps in the water to retrieve a duck.

Quinn is my first hunting dog and the best decision I have ever made. Every winter morning, she is at the door before I am, locked in and ready to go. There is no hesitation in her, just drive. From small creeks to big open water, she takes on whatever the day brings. Cold water, hard wind, ice on the edges, it does not matter. She was made for it. I could not ask for a tougher, more reliable hunting partner.

Through all of it, Quinn rides in her G1™ Intermediate Kennel. When the roads get sketchy and the weather turns ugly, that kennel gives me peace of mind I cannot put a price on. No matter how rough the haul or how far we have left to go, I know she is safe, secure, and comfortable. I have trusted a lot of gear over the years, but nothing more than my GUNNER.

Nearly 9 out of 10 products FAILED the safety certification when originally crash tested (2015 study) by CPS. Our Intermediate was the only product in the crate category that passed in that '15 study. (Source: Center For Pet Safety)

MY DOG IS NOT AN EGG.

Your dog is not an egg. But this egg test represents how they are protected in a GUNNER Kennel, versus traveling unrestrained in a vehicle.

The safest way for your pet to travel is in a GUNNER, and proper fit is a key part of safety in the event of an accident. Don’t let your dog become the scrambled egg.
