Why Mossy Oak Greenleaf?

“I am such a big fan of Mossy Oak, and I’ve been working with them since we met at NWTF in 2016. Since then, I’ve learned first hand how special the family is behind this brand. It's a huge honor to put a GUNNER spin on such an iconic pattern, and we are very excited to be able to offer our entire G1™ series in collaboration with the Haas/Mossy Oak family.” —Addison Edmonds, Founder, GUNNER

Why Mossy Oak Greenleaf?

The Iconic Camo

As our good friends at Mossy Oak like to say, “it all started with a fistful of dirt”. Back in 1986, the Haas family turned the hunting industry on its head with their new concealment system — a camouflage pattern based on natural bark elements and color tones found in the bottomland hardwoods of the South. The original, ‘Mossy Oak’ camouflage was born.

Originally, ‘Mossy Oak’ was offered in two colorways: Hill Country with a drab, gray base, and Bottomland®, with a brown base colorway. Bottomland quickly took over and served as the foundation for each seasonal pattern, the first of which was Greenleaf, which Toxey first created by pinning the leaves from young Oak saplings over a swatch of Bottomland. So when we were deciding what our first ever Spring kennel release should be, we just couldn't find a better fit than Greenleaf.

It's in Our DNA

While we seek to enjoy as much of the outdoors with our canine companions as we possibly can, our brand was built by a native of the hardwoods of Tennessee and Mississippi, and Spring turkey season is a deeply engrained tradition for Addison and our team.

As the saplings start to sprout and the leaves begin to return to the trees, our minds go to turkey season. After all, few moments can compete with that of an old Eastern at full strut and drumming just twenty yards away. The iconic Bottomland, and its spring expression in Greenleaf, have been a staple for us in the Turkey woods.

Leave it Better Than You Found It

Finally, the Haas family’s dedication to conservation and generosity in giving back more than they take through their connection to the land is an inspiration to us, and we consider it a privilege to count them as friends.

If you enjoy wild Turkeys, or simply care about the habitat they call home, we’d encourage you to check out Mossy Oak’s inaugural Wild Turkey Conservation Stamp.
