Made in Nashville, TN.
Sutton and I were traveling downhill and the two right lanes merged into one. There was an SUV right next to me, and a car directly behind them – they didn’t anticipate the lane change and sped up abruptly. They cut me off, and as soon as they did, they hit the front of my car going 45–50mph. After they hit me, they spun out in a way that seemed like slow motion. Thankfully we both came to a stop before sliding into other vehicles in the adjacent lane.
As soon as we came to a stop I ran back to check on my dog, Sutton. I was crying and scared, but as soon as I got her out of the GUNNER kennel I felt instant relief. She was simply happy to see me and did not have a scratch on her. The kennel did exactly what it was supposed to do and I am so thankful for it.
I originally purchased this kennel because I began having nightmares about getting into wrecks with Sutton. She has ridden in the car since she was a puppy and I just knew that I had to get something safer for the both of us. I ended up getting a bigger, safer Volvo SUV and if I am secure and safe, then my dog should be too. So I got a GUNNER Kennel too, and clearly, I’m so thankful I did.
I believed the kennel was worth the investment before the accident, and now I am even more sure of it. Even though I didn’t have it tied down in the cargo area, the kennel did exactly what it was supposed to. I even added GUNNER’s personalized nameplate so first responders would know her name if I ever got in that situation. It wasn’t needed in this accident, but it has put me at ease in case anything happens in the future.
Everyone ended up being ok but it could have been so much worse. We were going downhill at 45-50mph, with oncoming traffic in the other lane. Thank you, GUNNER, for keeping my pup safe.

You will need a soft measuring tape, your dog, and 2 minutes to find your perfect fit.
Tip: If you don't have a soft measuring tape, use a piece of string or a leash then compare.
Measure from base of tail to end of nose, keeping the tape along the spine.

GUNNER is the original 5 Star Crash Tested kennel, per the Center For Pet Safety. We created this crate specifically for transportation and that factors into our fit recommendations. In the best interest of your dog, we advise a snug fit for safe travel. If choosing the GUNNER crate for home kenneling, simply slide the toggle above to the right to see the best size.
When primarily used for travel, we always recommend a tight fit in the GUNNER kennel. This protects the dog in the case of an accident: the less wasted interior space the better. Think about it like this – if you’re hitting the brakes too hard, or get into a wreck, you’d rather that your dog have less room to move around inside the kennel. Many customers have also found that their dog feels more secure when traveling in a tighter area too.
