Words by Brian K. | As told by GUNNER
My two-year-old Malinois, Waco, and I were headed down the freeway and started fishtailing in the rain. With each fishtail, I kept overcorrecting. At a certain point, I knew there was nothing else I could do with the steering wheel to help. I came off the shoulder, went into the hill at a 45-degree angle, and rolled over 3-4 times. When my truck finally stopped rolling, it ended up stopping on the driver's side, so I had to climb through the passenger door to get out. Thankfully a bunch of people stopped and ran over to help.
After I assured them I was okay, I checked on Waco, who was riding in the bed in a GUNNER G1™ Intermediate. The kennel thankfully stayed strapped down throughout the entire accident, but since my truck was still on its side in the road, the kennel was too. Waco was shaken up and barking, but I could tell it was out of confusion about what was going on rather than an injury. He did not have a scratch on him. I knew he was going to be safe in the kennel– I actually had to pry the door open to get him out, that’s how secure he was. My Tacoma was completely totaled so it was crazy how well the kennel held up through the accident.
I knew from my research that a GUNNER was the best choice for Waco, but I had to convince my wife to spend $700 on the Intermediate. I knew it was worth every penny, and once we got it all assembled, she understood the investment. There is no way I’m going in any other direction regarding kennels.
Our GUNNER saved Waco’s life, and we could not be more thankful. He is a part of our family. I recommend your kennels to everyone. It’s not going to be the cheapest option out there, but it’s by far the safest. We are lifelong customers.
