Build a bond
Wherever my dogs & wife are
David is a police K-9 handler in Connecticut, who has been involved in K-9 since 2006. His first partner, K-9 Anouke, retired in May 2019 and David is currently working with a new K-9 partner, Aslan. Anouke spends her retirement working on David's farm, protecting their herd of dairy goats from predators.
My first police dog, Anouke. She taught me so much about training and working police dogs. We are inseparable.
Build a bond with your dog. Socialize them and expose them to everything you can as a young puppy. Work on obedience as a foundation and don’t get a breed you can’t handle or have time for.
I'm currently working a 2-year-old German Shepherd who was imported from Europe. I have owned Labradors, Great Danes, pitbulls and American bulldogs too.
My hunting stories won’t be your typical one, as my police dog and I hunt criminals.
On my birthday in 2017 we were called in from off duty to respond to the city and attempt to locate some suspects who were breaking into cars in a neighborhood. Once on scene, K-9 Anouke quickly tracked and flushed out two suspects hiding, who were apprehended. Then Anouke located another track and found another suspect hiding in some thick brush. But Anouke wasn’t done and she alerted me to a fenced in backyard. We searched the backyard and located another suspect hiding under a pool deck.
That night we arrested six people, Anouke located four and the other two were caught by perimeter units as they tried to flee from Anouke.
Border collie. Smart as hell.
